Road Trip to Tiruvannamalai from Bangalore
Day - January 11th and January 12th 2020
It was a sudden trip from Bangalore, where me, my mother and another family firend decided to go to Tiruvannamalai for a temple visit and Girivalam. It was the Day after Pournami so that the place is not overcrowded
We started at 6 am from Bangalore and Reached Chengam at 11.30 am. We had some personal work on the way hence it tool 5.5 hrs. Normally it should not take more than 3.5 hrs
I took the longer route Via Bargur, Thirupatthur, Singarampettai since the road from Krishnagiri to Tirvannamali was horrible. This was our second trip in that route within 3 weeks so we were aware the hardships in commuting in that road.
On the way to T.Malai, we wanted to visit Parvatha Malai(mountain). It is not easy to climb and doing a Girivalam of Parvatha malai is a 28 km sojourn which is lot an easy one. So we drove around the mountain. Enroute we visited a 1414 years old Samadhi of a great Saint
This is a mutt of Sri Jagadguru Aadhi Siva Lingachary Moorthy. This Place is approximately 14 kms enroute of Parvatha malai Girivalam. Sere small village with a Mutt where some 10 kids are studying in Vedapadashala.
Must visit. VEry powerful saint and T.Malai is a land of Saints and Sainthood. Lots of Siddhars live in the mountain and around the place. So visitng such places are not only divine, gives a sense of peacefulness and liberation from botherings
It is a narrow road to reach the Mutt but a must visit place if you at Parvatha malai

We spent almost 30 minutes before starting to complete our Parvath malai girivalam.
We reached T.Malai at 2 PM. We took some rest and Visited the Ramana Maharishi Ashram. This was another Divin place were all sorts of people visit to seek blessings and meditation power. Fortunately it was the day after Ramana Maharishi Jayanthi wher it was celebrated with a festive mood. Music on one side, Meditation on the other side, Not to forget to mention the Prasadam food for everyone was Divin by nature.
We had a good time there and Started with our Girivalam of Thiruvannamalai. It was after a long time I had ventured to walk with Bare foot for 14 plus Kms. But we wre all determined. I was little concerned about my mom who was having some Knee pain due to her age.
We all were determined to complete it what may come. We visited all the 8 lingams enroute the Girivalam and not to forget the "Idukki Pillayar". This is a small opening in stone where you have to pass through it to get relieved of all our body pain. You have to Sqeeze yourselves howver big or Fat you are. the sone pushes you out only thing is you have to be confident of passing through. It was a nice experience and we all did it twice by passing through the left and right side of the body.
We then stopped at multiple places for drinking team to keep ourselves energised. We completed the Girivalam at 1.15 am considering that we started our Girivalam at 8.22 pm. Last 3 kms looked daunting since we were tired and for me stomes were pricking since I am not used to walk with bare foot. somehow we were happy to complete with all the spirit and energy.
Since it was Margazhi, Arunachaleswar temple opens at 4 am in the morning. With Melmaruvathur season and crowd in the offing, we decide to do Temple visit/Darshan at 4 am in the morning. We slept for few hours and woke up at 3.30 am to visit the temple. We had a Fantastic Darshan because of one of our family friend Rajasekar who is an ardent devotee of Shiva and who is a farmer and a half saint. He had known people who helped us to go inside the santum sanctorium . It was a great experience . We reached hotel by 6.30 am after buying some Vegetables from Wholesale market in T.Malai.
I slept for an hour since I dind't get much sleep due to leg pain and tiredness. Our next place was Sankara mutt Villupuram where Maha Periyavaa lived his childhood.
It was a distance of 66 kms via Vettavalam and we could reach villupuram in 90 minutes since the roads were excellant.
The Mutt is situated within the town of Villupuram where Student learn VEdas. It is a VEdapadashala which runs on donations from good Samaritans and devotees. It was an experience which cannot be expressed in words. We were shown Aarati by the kids of vedapadashala. We spend some 20 minutes and reached back T.Malai by 12.20 pm.
We checked out of our Hotel and had lunch at Muraleedhara Swamigal Ashram next to Ramana Ashram. We started to Bangalore at 1.45 PM via the same route( Singarampettai, Thirupathur, Bargur, Krishnagiri). Reached Bangalore by 6 pm .
It was an excellent, tiring and Religious adventure which ended very short before we could realise the places we visited in that 24 hours.
